IS YOUR ORGANIZATION FACING ISSUES LIKE THESE?
“We’re good at cost cutting and operational excellence. How do we drive growth in a mature and disrupted market?”
“We’ve got ideas, but how do we select, develop and implement the strongest ones with greater agility?”
“We are a risk-adverse culture and it inhibits our ability to take bold action.”
“How do we move beyond incremental improvements and produce truly game-changing new products, services and business models?”
As a former Board member of the: Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Alberta , the Certified Management Accountants: Alberta, and Alberta Public Planners Institute and as a former Managing Partner of KPMG Consulting and ADM with the Alberta Government, and currently the Founder and Past President of the Alberta Council of Technologies Society, I have actively supported the role of management – and specifically management consulting, in change management across a vast array of public and private organizations, communities and industries. My experience on public and private boards, advisory role to universities and colleges, professions and NGOs and at all levels of government – and my roles as editor, frequent Conference Chair and speaker, all serve to position me well to represent and advocate for CMC: Canada, its provincial affiliations and the relevance of the designation for its members.
Executive responsibilities
I am the founder, editor and Past President of the Alberta Council of Technologies Society (ABCtech) – with over 20,000 subscribers of its newsletter, QuikTech Notes, advocating for the diversification of Alberta’s economy through the commercialization of emerging technologies. I was Managing Director of KPMG Consulting in Edmonton, Assistant Deputy Minister with the Alberta Government and Director of Funding Reform and Privatization and started my career with the Alberta Government responsible for the development of community service alternatives for persons with disabilities. I am currently Chair of an Advisory for establishing Canada’s first model Innovation Zone, engaging several contiguous municipalities in collaborative economic development featuring the merger of arts and technology, science and culture.
Range of consulting experience
I am currently undertaking a panAlberta consultation on “The Missing ‘M’ in SME – Why small technology businesses fail to grow” on behalf of the Alberta Council of Technologies Society and the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Alberta. I have consulted extensively with executive and senior management in team building, strategic services, managing change, business process reengineering, privatization, plus energy and environmental policy, e-Business and people and professional development. I have also participated in the conduct of corporate and industrial restructuring and the conduct of operational reviews for federal, provincial and municipal governments across Canada. I am editor of QuikTech Notes, Director of Troy Media and frequently called on to Chair and speak at Provincial Conferences and am designing and delivering a lecture series on “Data Analytics in Human Resource Management” for Queen’s University.
